Lucky day

Oh, this is probably my year... Cos it is the year of the Ox! Right? or maybe it's just my day yesterday.

What's the catch?

I was... or let me say... "we" were spared from reporting in Urology class. The report was supposed to be all about Prostate. That's it! Prostate... All about prostate from it's anatomical and physiological standpoint and it's major congenital, infectious and neoplastic anomalies. It wasn't a hard topic to discuss in front of the class and to "him" but then I wasn't in the mood and I was not that prepared for we also had an exam in Family Medicine.

We were spared! Woohoo!

As in he totally just asked for our written report and the soft copy of our presentation! Sooo uber cool! That's because of "this" doctor who loves to give lectures, so the reporting became a group lecture. Hahaha...

Nao, got to love the prostate.

I knoe, right? It wasn't all about the sparing from the prostate thingie... There's something more.

Second lucky moment yday?

I won the poker game last night! Since today is St. Tomas day, we took the opportunity to spend the eve carefree, and poker it was! T'was my first ever poker game, I was the beginner in the group and my insanity struck me so hard, it made me enter the shorthand game (Hahaha, nao I am learning the terms e?). Howkay we started playing at around 5:30 after class, I was just initially watching and dealing the practice game (no buy-ins yet). Then I got curious that I was forced to join the shorthand game with a buy-in of 50bucks. A little big e? The fact that I am broke, just got 500 remaining bucks in my KC wallet for the rest of this week, I gave my fate in cos if I get the pot, then that's an extra money to be enjoyed. By 12MN, it was just me and my roommate, I as the chip leader... face to face with him with a big blind of 400. In no time, all the chips are mine. Hahaha...

Rocket Pocket! Woot woot!

Alas! Beginner's luck! Or maybe because they really just can't read my poker face...

Who's winning? Hahaha... Yabangan....

More of last night's poker game pics in HERE!

Am I in Forks?

Not in Forks guys!

Chilly and Murky. Zero visibility. Risky. Awesome.

It's just in Tagaytay.

Yesterday after my last exam that was Pediatrics, I went up to Tagaytay with Kuya Jordan and Kuya Joms, not minding the possibility of an important school activity after... Call it an adventure of spontaneous fellas, tripped all around Tagaytay, hopped from one place to another to either eat, sip, or get amazed while on Kuya Jordan's shuffled playlist. O yeah, even Sharon Cuneta joined our midweek escapade singing Bituing Walang Ningning. C'mon!

Thanks Kuya Jordan for the safe ride, for the abundant pasalubongs, for the food (everything's thumbs up), for some weird stories, for sharing your sophistication and sentiments. Keep your health in good condition, aryt? Your mom needs you despite... you knoe... I knoe you get it.

Thanks Kuya Joms for the location orientation, geographical familiarization,  especially for  unfolding some of your paranormal experiences, for sharing your insights, worldliness and creativity. Drop by the Day-by-Day Ministries if you have the time, aryt? It was nice meeting you for the first time, btw. You're a great company.

Oh and this day marks the beginning of the 4th shift! Wow. What a great start, a quiz in Neurology. Woot woot!

Poker Face

White-haired chick, groovy dance moves, weird accessories, thump thump beats. That's what you get in the House of GaGa. I got to knoe Lady GaGa in the first episode of Gossip Girl season 2 wherein her Paparazzi song was featured. She kinda looks like Christina Aguelerra. Have you seen her lately?! Yeah, and nao the fans of both parties are fighting over who actually came up first with the style.

A few people knoe (nao you knoe...) that I like club music a lot like the tracks of Shining Star by Get Far, I've got a Life by Eurythmics and Humans (Ocelot Remix) by The Killers. And if you do fancy the same kind, then get her album. Paparazzi is a good track but dance tracks such as Just Dance, Poker Face and Beautiful Dirty Rich are equally impressive sounds in the dance floor.

Click and Dance! yey! Enjoy!

image Howkay, ever since I entered med school, I quitted doing the regular Starbucks visit to study. That is due to a lot of reasons that I've mentioned before, not worth mentioning again.

But I found another decent branch of Starbucks that I fancy, and been fancying for the past few weeks (since it is exam week, e?). It is located somewhere near the Philippine Heart Center area. I don't know what street it is located but it's a street that connects Kalayaan road and East avenue. Not V.Luna, cos I knoe V.Luna street so well. Anyway, it's a 5-min drive from home sweet home, and traversing the Kalayaan road is a breeze, I never experienced traffic in that area ever. The Parking space is not a big problem, and it has less visits from party people and so majority of their costumers are equally considerate students who study meticulously and silently; they knoe how to shut their mouth up while studying. Kewl huh?

Last Friday, I went to meet old MedTech internship friends in Techno Hub near UP Diliman. I was new to the place. It's not yet fully developed but it's an Ayala project so I suppose it will be a huge hit soon. So anyway, I told you that I fancy this Starbucks store a lot, so that after the meeting I dropped by and ordered Chamomile tea to relax me before finally hitting the bed. Wow. I knoe right? I am that obsessed with that store. Hahaha.

Nao, I just got back home from there. The original plan was to go home until the store closes at 2:30 but I was too tired, wasn't able to do so.

Owell, since this is a Starbucks-related post, lemme add the following stuff.

Facts you must knoe: A trivia, just so you knoe tips and additional infos on how to customize your drink especially to Mocha fans out there. (These are only based on experience and personal knowledge)

  1. Missing the Praline Mocha? The closest thing to it is to add Hazelnut syrup (plus 20 bucks) to a regular order of Mocha. That's what I usually order upon learning it from a barista friend. Thanks Jelai!
  2. Hot or Warm Mocha drink lovers, you must stir your drink before you start sipping. Cos it's topped with a cream. The cream mixed with the choco-coffee is an indulgence.
  3. And, drink it with regular intervals of stirring cos the choco syrup usually settles at the bottom of your cup. So take off those lids, and enjoy.
  4. Want to lessen the calories? The most common is to cancel the whip. Yes, tell them "no whip". It adds fulfillment but it can also add weight excessively. I swear. And what I usually do is I ask the barista to replace the regular milk to soya milk. Or if not available, you can instead ask them to use non-fat milk. But the problem with non-fat milk is that it's not as yummy as the regular kind, so my mom told me to tell the barista to use 2%. What the hell is 2%? You ask. It's 50% full cream (or the regular) and 50% non-fat milk. Don't ask why it's 2% if it's actually 50%, I really don't knoe.
  5. Sweetening with less calories? Ask for an artificial sweetener (Free!!!). Don't go for Equal. Ask for Splenda. Equal is aspartame-based and it's not stable in heat, so mixing it with your hot drink will just destroy it and end up adding some more. Splenda is sucrose-based and is heat-stable which is why it's popular among bakers.
  6. Problem of drinking too hot coffees? You can ask them to just make it "warm". It makes sense, right?
  7. I love the coffee jelly and they're great if added with iced coffees (for me, not with the ice-blended) especially in Caramel Machiatto. Oh, and don't forget to ask for the special straw.
  8. Want to drink but needs to sleep immediately after? Go for decaf. All coffee based beverages are available in decaf. Or better yet, order a chamomile tea which induces relaxation and good night sleep.

Please don't leave me

Pink's been gone for a while but I like her new album Funhouse a lot especially this particular track. She's one of those really kewl artists who sings from the heart. You can really feel the song when she sings especially in live performances.

This song goes to a very special friend. Enjoy.

Da da da da, da da da da
Da da da da-da da

I don't know if I can yell any louder
How many time have I kicked you outta here?
Or said something insulting?
da da da da-da

I can be so mean when I wanna be
I am capable of really anything
I can cut you into pieces
But my heart is....broken
Da da da-da da

Please don't leave me
Please don't leave me
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please, don't leave me

How did I become so obnoxious?
What is it with you that makes me act like this?
I've never been this nasty
Can't you tell that this is all just a contest?
The one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest
But baby I don't mean it
I mean it, I promise
Da da da-da da

Please don't leave me
Da da da-da da
Please don't leave me
Da da da-da da
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please, don't leave me

I forgot to say out loud how beautiful you really are to me
I can't be without, you're my perfect little punching bag
And I need you, I'm sorry.
Da da da da, da da da da
da da da da-da da

Please, please don't leave me
Baby please don't leave me
No, don't leave me
Please don't leave me no no no
You say I don't need you but it's always gonna come right back,
It's gonna come right back to this.
Please, don't leave me.
No, don't leave me
Please don't leave me, oh no no no.
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please don't leave me
Please don't leave me

An emergency to Greenbelt

The urge to be out yesterday brought me and my high school friends to Greenbelt. The late invitation from a friend got me dressed up in no time and rushed out of the house like a mad man. The initial idea was just to watch "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" but since it was a night out and the ticket that we got was timed at 11:45pm (LFS), a dinner date with friends would also be a great thing to do.

I stepped in GB5 for the first time last night. Woot woot! I didn't kiss the ground tho. ROFL. It's still under construction but some areas are already open to food trippers and shopping-spree-ers. I like the interior of the mall a lot. The ceiling's too high like in a cathedral, shops are spacious, lights are wonderfully located and the furnishing's both sassy and classy.

Majority of the shops yesterday were on sale! The thing is, everything's sky's the limit as in Marc Jacobs, Kenneth Cole, and the like. As a still dependent adult like me, shopping in those kind of shops even if they're on sale is only possible with the company of dad and mom. So, we just wandered a bit inside the mall and decided to eat at John & Yoko.

John and Yoko was suggested by my friend-roommate James who frequents the restaurant. He warned me that it's always full and the line for reservation is long. However since we arrived late, queuing didn't bothered us that much and we found a perfect table for 3.

I probably should not elaborate further on how they got the idea of the resto's name. It's a Japanese resto with a twist, like a modern Japanese experimento or something. They serve pizzas, salads, and iced teas and vodkas in 3 different colors yet you can still order katsudon, makis, sushis, and enjoy their complimentary hot tea like in a traditional Japanese resto. It's really so John and Yoko mixed together. Did you get the point? Japanese cuisines mixed with Eastern dishes. Oh, and not just the dishes but also the interiors.

Jerome's checking the interiors. Isn't it kewl?!

Me and my friends never anticipated the abundance of the servings.  We ordered Shrimp & Enoki pizza in 8 slices that was suggested by London (the waitress' name) which was oh-so-yummy it tastes so Oriental with a tinge of Hawaiian. I ordered New York Fried Maki cos I loved it since I tasted such kind in a sushi bar in Cleveland. It consists of 6 makis per order, taste good but not as good as the one I tried before. Katsudon was suggested for us to have a rice meal, and the serving is oh so huge, we never imagined finishing it. Probably cos it's just so scrumptious. Seafood Yakisoba however was not as exceptional as other yakisobas served in other restos.

Lauren enjoyed the food served, she said she'll be coming back and try the others.

For the drinks, I just asked for water and their complimentary tea that smells like vanilla or something, I really don't knoe what it was but the tea has this amazing and unique aroma. However, Lauren kept on checking the heavy menu (as in literally heavy) and saw the colorful vodkas and iced teas, so the 3 of us tried it.

Green, Blue and Red iced tea. And a pot of hot tea.

The concept of the resto is uber nice, and it suits our native tongue. I think that is because the house chef is Filipino. The problem is, it's located into a classy place and it's too pricey. What we ordered alone spent us 500 bucks each. Another problem is the service. Very poor. Our iced teas reached the bottom and I probably have asked them to give us water thrice, hot tea twice, sugar thrice, utensils thrice. What kind of service is that?! And they charge you 8% of your total bill for their service! Not fair.

Shrimp & Enoki, Seafood Yakisoba, New York Fried Maki and Katsudon. (the pics look kinda boring... sorry, i just took these via my phone.)

After a 2-hour of satisfactory meal, we headed to GB3 to watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The movie is not old but it depicts past events which caught much of my attention. I have this thing with old movies, especially the black & white kind so for me it was very interesting. It was well created, especially on how they showed the old New Orleans, Paris and Manhattan, I was dragged away. The acting was exceptional especially of Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton. The story made me believe such case can happen however as Benjamin gets younger, I was disappointed cos I wasn't expecting it to end like it. It was weird. He shrinked and became a baby which is too impossible. What I was expecting was that the big character portrayed by Brad Pitt will be the same until the end, it's just that he would act abnormally like a child or a kid, would suck his thumb, crawl and cannot walk, look young like a baby and not to become a baby per se.

But I did enjoy the movie. I like how practical Benjamin is despite still being that romantic, and doing a lot of exceptionalities. I think those attitudes or perspectives is very hard to reconcile and adjoin.

DSC00394The movie ended at around 2:30am. The funny thing was, we got lost as we were heading to the parking lot. Everything's already closed and dark. You knoe how big Greenbelt is, right? We parked at GB1 cos  we had no choice. We asked every guard that we met but some just gave us vague directions. Until finally, a generous guard (forgot to ask his name) led us to the right way. It took us 30 minutes just to get back to the car. I knoe, right? And what made it more shitty is that the parking costs us 120bucks! As explained by the cashier, beyond 3AM they charge an additional 45 bucks. It sucks cos when I checked the receipt, our time out was 3:03. No grace period! Owell. It was bullshitty. Really. And to think, it's their idea to put up a show that ends at 2:30 in the morning.

Note to Greenbelt: I was disappointed. Like it was our fault! You guys know that there is a movie that uniquely ends at 2:30AM. Isn't it an exception? Charging us an extra 45 pesos cos it took us 30 minutes to maze around the mall? Why not put directions back to the parking lots then when all the other ways are already closed? Besides, why close these ways to the parking lots so early when you knoe that people are still parked in there? And puhleez, hire more competent guards who have sense of directions. I am not a regular visitor of your mall, I know how to get back to your parking lots but in cases like what happened to us, it might as well happen to others, and it really sucked. We even met Koreans who we think were also lost cos they asked the guards. You wasted our time and money.

That's all.

Howkay, my blog needs repairing and overhauling. It's kinda distorted in some browsers and I am already bored looking at it.

I'll be shutting it down for a while, will werk on it maybe this coming weekend... and will resume regular viewing next week with a new look. Aryt?

New year = new look. Kewl!

I dunno how long it will take me to finish the makeover but I'm trying to learn HTML, so let's just wait and see.

I knoe right?

I hope I get it right, everything okay and end up nicely.

Any tips? suggestions? or maybe a generous web creator out there can send me a free personalized template. Hahaha...

Au revoir!

As everyone's making their resolutions, goals and looking-forwards this 2009. I am making a prediction. I am no-Nostradamus but I will make a prediction cos I want to do so.

But first of all, let me just clear and reveal something... I have told a few about my recent allergic attack. And yes, as you can see, I am still alive and writing this blog. I didn't have an anaphylatic shock that even led to death or anything serious. 2008 is not my choice of death year my dear friends.

Sorry if I blamed the shrimps or the scrumptious Siomai my Tita heartily created with my helping hands; it wasn't due to the shrimps in the Siomai.

Here's the story...

During the new year's eve, I had an urticaria attack. For those who doesn't knoe what an urticaria is, don't google it out. Urticaria or also known as hives are red, itchy and raised skin rashes that's usually caused by an allergic reaction. In short, allergy. I had an allergy. An allergic attack! I thought it was due to the shrimps added in the Siomai that was served, so up until yday, no siomai for me.

But I wasn't allergic to shrimps before...

Oh... My body probably just got sensitive to shrimps. Just nao! Right... Hahaha... Kewl!

Anti-histamine saved my life. If I got my analysis right... Not that it stopped from progressing into an anaphylaxis but it saved me from the itchiness and the redness, so I had a goodnight sleep.

But then, I again noticed and experienced another attack just last night, when we finally arrived here in Quezon City. I felt hot and had to turn on the AC as I entered my room, then after a few minutes in bed so tired cos I had to drive, I again felt the familiar kind of itchiness all over my body. When I looked at myself in the mirror, oh gawd I was soooo red, pouty lips and puffy lids like Kermit. I immediately took loratadine, the same thing that I took during the previous attack.

Howkay, so in conclusion, it wasn't a food allergy. Thank God! The shrimp is not the culprit! Yes! So another differential?

Cold hives...

Then I remembered, I was brought to a doctor when I was still a kid and he gave me a shot. Mom told me it was an epi-shot, for my hives... That makes sense, I had a previous attack. That supports more of my new differential then! Hahaha...

So... I have cold hives... that explains my love with the sun. Not!

Okay, back into making predictions...

I am not going to predict celebrities neither politicians cos they're overrated besides, I don't watch TV. I even forgot how to turn a TV on.

So who am I gonna predict his/her future?

Call me conceited. Yes I am!

This year, I see a bright future, I see red and roses, shimmering, glimmering... I see love and sparks. I feel butterflies in my stomach. Hahaha...

I think I am going to fall in love this year! Nyek!

It's been a while since the last time, you knoe! And entering into a relationship is a no joke. Been there, done that. Don't start to nag. And loving needs time and space and calories. It consumes a lot of tank of gas. It drains the whole body, that in the end of the day, you'll end up prostrated.

So what's so good about loving then? Everyone keeps talking about it, relationships blah blah blah. It's like the biggest and the oldest fad ever. People brag that they have boyfriends, and girlfriends then end up cursing them cos according to them they don't fit together. What the heck?!

Weird, right?

According to Florentino Ariza's godfather, the symptoms of love were the same as those of cholera. So loving is choleric. How weird! Who would want to fall in love then? Ew. I am in love but I am defecating rice watery stool?! Ew. So I still have to to figure that one out... maybe when I'm finally over with the book.

How come loving is like an old epidemic?

But what I miss are the cuddling, stolen moments, dreaming about you, nothing ever seems to matter just you and me, each and everyday walk together, quality times, sneaking and lying as if loving is a crime...

Divine providence? Petting? Hahaha...

Dak, Tigang ka lang!

Of course not! Define Tigang! Hahaha...

Let's see, I might ingest something Vibrio-infected this year, right?

But anyway, I think this year is LOVE. Owell, a lot of things happen in the wards, not only is Seattle Grace.

Hmmm... my page is kinda distorted right now in some browsers...

Well, well, well...

Look who's back in the city!

Probinsyano mode, now turned off...

Thank God for the Past Year

There are a lot of things that I in particular should be really-very-much thankful for the past year! Whew! This year is like a journey cos a lot for things happened, conquered some impossibilities, and miracles found.

Okay, first of all, I would like to thank God for the pleasant things that had happened this year! Woot woot!

There are a lot of things I am very grateful that happened as I wanted them to happen. There's this passing the dreaded Pharmacology subject. I am sooo thankful that everything I've sacrificed paid off! A lot from the batch took the remedial exam, and a number of them flunked. Although it was something I should really celebrate, it wasn't pure happiness cos a lot of my batchmates were delayed for a year. What's more saddening is that one of them is a very good friend of mine.

I am also very thankful for the things that happened more than I wanted them. Remember my recent travel to the US? My parents decided to send me to the states last summer. I was shocked! I wasn't expecting it. Next thing I knew my papers were all prepared. After a week, I was scheduled for an interview by a consul. Then after a week, I was already in Cleveland. Snap! That fast! I thought I was in a state of REM, dreaming but I can't seem to wake up. Not only did the consul give me a chance to visit relatives abroad, she gave me a 10-year privilege to go back and visit uncle Sam. Kewl huh?

I am also glad for the pleasant things that had happened even less than I wanted them. Did you experience the same thing wherein even if you haven't received what you really wanted and expecting to happen, still the happiness and satisfaction's there? That's because of contentment. You and I knoe how to be contented. That feeling is brought about by being able to get satisfied by the simplicity of life, accepting possibilities and not expecting too much.

Also, I should and as well, be thankful for the nice things that I wanted but did not happen at all or happened in ways different from how I wanted them to happen. There's this moving into a new apartment, there's this an almost trip to Hong Kong, there's the vacation trips to Baguio, Cebu and Bohol with really close friends. Also this year I conquered Mount Pinatubo which was extensive but fun fun fun! It's hell lot of fun, seriously...

Of course, lastly I should really be thankful cos I am still alive and kicking asses! Hahaha... I wasn't hit by a truck or a bus or anything mobile this year. I didn't fall from the stairs, I didn't stumble or did anything stupid. Hahaha...

Then I should not only be thankful for the good things that had happened but also to the unpleasant things that happened this year. Cos they're also considered blessings.

Owell, there are actually a lot to be thankful about!

I am thankful for the unpleasant things that happened because I think I deserve them. I am not perfect and I commit mistakes, so I think I deserve some spanking or slight punishments, eryt? Also, I should be thankful for the unpleasant things happened not because I deserve them but because I needed these unpleasantness to make me grow as a person.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to give and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Happy New Year Earthlings!

This is such a good year, I am itching everywhere, my lips are pouty and my lids are puffy... An allergic attack! Hay... Enjoy!
